The renewal for the shop arrived in the same stack as a stylist's own fee. A fee for the place is not the same check as a fee for the person.

The place where the work happens often needs its own permission to operate, separate from each person's credential. When the business pays that renewal, the cost belongs to the business. It is an ordinary cost of being open. It is not a retail purchase, and it does not reduce tips.
Put the invoice with the year it covers. If the renewal straddles two tax years, say so on the close for the month you paid it. We would rather see a short note than a fee buried in supplies beside shampoo. Supplies get used up in services. A renewal keeps the door allowed to open. Those are different stories when someone later asks what the year cost. The note can be one line on the close for the month you paid.
What we will not invent
We do not print a state form number or a dollar amount for this renewal. The state where the business sits publishes both, and they move. A number copied onto this page would be stale the next time that office changed its schedule.
The person's own credential, when they pay it themselves, stays on their fee. If one check tried to pay both, split it only to the extent the invoice already splits it.
